Raising the Standard: Why Ladtech is the First and Final Word in Underground Infrastructure

In the world of underground utilities, the “chimney” section of a manhole is often the weakest link. For decades, the industry relied on concrete rings that were heavy, prone to cracking, and quick to deteriorate. That changed when Ladtech Inc. revolutionized the industry by introducing the first non-concrete adjusting ring specifically designed for the chimney section of manholes.

Today, Ladtech remains the gold standard for municipalities and contractors across North America, with our HDPE products officially approved in all 50 U.S. States and all 10 Canadian Provinces.

Stacking Without Limits: The 3-Foot Advantage

The most significant differentiator for Ladtech is the unrivaled stackability of the products. While our competitors are often restricted to a maximum stack height of just 4 inches, Ladtech’s HDPE rings can be stacked from 12 to 36 inches in a roadway. On off roads they have been added up to 96″ with the Ladtech System (R) or as high as the specifications have called for.

Why do others fall short? Most alternative products suffer from a “bounce effect” when stacked. This lack of rigidity causes the casting cover to bounce out of the frame when heavy traffic passes over it. Ladtech rings, however, are engineered to satisfy AASHTO chimney requirements for HS-20 and HS-25 traffic loads.

Resilience by Design

Unlike concrete, which begins to crumble the moment it is exposed to the elements, Ladtech’s High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is virtually indestructible.

The Ladtech System(R) product line is:

  • Impervious to Corrosion: They stand up to Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) gases, road salts, and harsh chemical runoff.
  • Watertight Sealing: By utilizing Butyl caulking or tubes to seal rings, which provides a permanent barrier against Inflow and Infiltration (I&I), keeping “ghost water” out of treatment plants and saving municipalities thousands in operational costs.
  • 100-Year Life Expectancy: While concrete may last 5 to 20 years, our HDPE rings are built to last a century, backed by an industry-leading 30-year warranty.

Safety and Sustainability

We believe that what goes into the ground should stay there without harming the environment. Ladtech rings are manufactured from 100% recycled HDPE, diverting millions of pounds of plastic from landfills. Furthermore, our products are PFAS-free, ensuring they do not omit toxic “forever chemicals” into the soil or groundwater.

Our system is also a win for worker safety. A standard concrete ring can weigh 100 lbs., requiring heavy machinery and risking back injuries. A Ladtech ring weighs just 6 lbs., allowing for a safer, faster, and more precise installation that can be completed in under 30 minutes.

The Future of the Chimney Section

From the first patent in 1995 to over 5 million products sold today, Ladtech continues to lead the way. We aren’t just selling a product; we are providing a long-term solution that protects city budgets, ensures roadway safety, and preserves our environment.
